Marsden Local is a registered business name of Pluralstar Pty Ltd (ABN 41 669 590 176), which operates the local business directory at marsdenlocal.com.au for the Marsden Park, NSW community. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it.

2. What we collect

Business listing submissions

  • Contact person: first and last name, email address, phone number
  • Business details: name, description, legal entity, ABN/ACN, business email and phone, website, social media links, business and registered addresses
  • Images: business logo and featured photo

Enquiries (contact form) — your name, email address, and message.

Automatically — usage data via Google Analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, device type).

3. Why we collect it (purposes)

  • To review, publish, and display business listings (this is the core service — listing contact details are shown publicly by design)
  • To verify businesses and prevent fraudulent or spam submissions
  • To respond to enquiries
  • To understand Site usage and improve the directory (analytics)

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. What is public

If your business listing is approved, the business information you submitted — including business name, description, business contact details, address, opening hours, social links, and images — is published on the Site and may appear in search engines. The personal contact person details (first/last name, personal email/phone) are used for administration and are not displayed publicly unless you entered them as the business’s public contact details.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We use service providers to run the Site, which involves processing data on our behalf:

  • Amazon Web Services — website hosting and email delivery of form submissions (Sydney, Australia region)
  • Google — Analytics (subject to Google’s privacy policy; some processing may occur overseas, including the USA)

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the Site and its users.

6. Cookies

The Site itself does not require cookies to browse. We use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand Site usage. You can block cookies in your browser; the Site still works.

7. Storage and security

Site data is hosted in Australia (AWS Sydney region), and form submissions are delivered by email to our administrators. No internet service can be guaranteed 100% secure; we take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access.

8. Access, correction, and deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information — including removal of your business listing — by emailing hello@marsdenlocal.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period. We may retain records where required by law.

9. Data breach

If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Complaints

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date will change and material updates will be signposted on the Site.
